OK DINGHY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
21- 28 JULY 2012

NOTICE of RACE

 
1 RULES
  1.1   The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Constitution and the Class Rules of the International OK Dinghy Class (OKDIA).

  1.2 No national authority prescriptions will apply.

  1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
 
2 ADVERTISING
  Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organising Authority.
 
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
  3.1 The regatta is an open event, maximum capacity 200.

  3.2 To be eligible to compete in this event a competitor shall be a member of a sailing club recognised by the competitor's national authority.

  3.3 Entries can only be made through National Associations that are full members of OKDIA, accompanied by the required fees and entry forms by 31st May 2012.

  3.4 Late entries may be accepted by the Organising Committee up to the close of registration on Saturday 21st July 2012.
 
4 FEES
  4.1 Entry fees are as follows:
(a) The entry fee is € 250.
(b) The entry fee for competitors under the age of 21 on the date of the first race of the championship is € 125.

5 SCHEDULE
  5.1 Registration:
Saturday 21 July 2012, 09:00 - 16:00.
Sunday   22 July 2012, 09:00 - 16:00.

  5.2 Measurement:
Saturday 21 July 2012, 09:00 - 16:00.
Sunday   22 July 2012, 09:00 - 16:00.

  5.3 Dates of Racing:
Monday      23 July 2012, Practice Race (1 race only).
Tuesday     24 July 2012, Racing

  5.4 Number of Races:
Two races are scheduled per day, with up to 10 Races in the Series. The Schedule of racing may be altered to permit more than 2 races per day if required.
 
6 MEASUREMENT
  6.1 Each boat shall be presented for measurement in accordance with the measurement timetable.

  6.2 At the time of measurement each boat shall present a copy of its valid measurement certificate issued by the competitor's National OK Dinghy Association or National Authority. Additional measurements to be made include, but are not limited to, spars, rudders, centreboards, masts and sails.

  6.3 Additional safety checks may be conducted at any time during the regatta at the discretion of the measurer, his designated assistant, a member of the Race Committee or a member of the International Jury.

  6.4 Following each day's racing one or more boats may be inspected for compliance with class rules at the discretion of the measurer, his designated assistant, a member of the Race Committee or a member of the International Jury.
 
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
  Sailing Instructions can be collected during registration from the race office, located in Vallensbæk Sejlklub.
 
8 VENUE
  8.1 The venue will be Vallensbæk Sejlklub, located within Vallensbæk Harbour.

  8.2 The Race Area will be in Køge Bugt.
 
9 THE COURSES
  The course will be a triangular course including windward, reaching and leeward marks in compliance with the ODKIA Constitution. A course diagram is shown in Attachment 2, which includes the order in which marks are to be passed and the side on which each mark is to be left. It does not indicate the distance between legs and angles, where shown, are approximate.
 
10 PENALTY SYSTEM
  10.1   RRS Appendix P will apply.

  10.2 Decisions of the International Jury will be final as provided in RRS Rule 70.5.
 
11 SCORING
  11.1 The low points scoring system of RRS Appendix A shall apply.

  11.2 5 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

  11.3 When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores.

  11.4 When 6 or more races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
 
12 SUPPORT BOATS
  12.1 Support boats shall be permitted during the regatta.

  12.2 All support boats shall register with the Organising Authority at registration and nominate the boats they support.

  12.3 All support boats shall display either an identification flag of minimum size 50 cm by 40 cm with their national letters or their national letters in black on a white background on the cover of their outboard engine.

  12.4 Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) should be worn at all times whilst afloat by crew members on support boats.

  12.5 Further instructions governing the conduct of support boats will be included in the Sailing Instructions.
 
13 BERTHING
  13.1 Competitor's boats shall be kept in the assigned area in the boat park.

  13.2 Support boats may be berthed in Vallensbæk Harbour. Vallenssbæk Sailing Club will advice where.
 
14 RADIO COMMUNICATION
  Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
 
15 PRIZES
  15.1 Prizes will be given as follows:

  • Winner Practice Race - Sven Lehn Memorial Trophy
  • Best Helmsman from Host Country - Clive Roberts Memorial Salver
  • Best Veteran - Knud Olsen Trophy
  • Best Master - the Blasse Trophy
  • Best Junior - Raymond Dodard Trophy
  • The lowest score when all race scores are counted - Paul Elvstrom Trophy
  15.2 Only competitors under the age of 21 on the date of the first race of the championship are eligible for the Raymond Dodard Trophy.

  15.3 Only competitors over the age of 40 on the date of the first race of the championship will be eligible for the Knud Olsen Trophy.

  15.4 Only competitors over the age of 60 on the date of the first race of the championship are eligible for the Blasse Trophy.

  15.5 The World Champion will receive a gold medal, the second overall competitor will receive a silver medal and the third overall competitor will receive a bronze medal provided by OKDIA.

  15.6 The first 10 competitors overall, the highest placed veteran, the highest placed master and the highest placed junior will receive OKDIA ties.
 
16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
  Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
 
17 INSURANCE
  Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of  € 1,000,000.
